“Of course he leaves that part out.” Lucas replied, staring at a child slowly becoming more and more lion. As his mane and claws grew out he growled.
“Who are you!? All of you.” The child yelled. “Now, now.” Lucas replied. “For once I'm as out of the loop as everyone else.” he yawned. As the rest of the group joined up. “Unlike them I find it a bit boring though, honestly.” “Reg,” Renee replied. “If he is ever in danger again. I will join the kid in becoming a lion.” “She thinks she can do it too” Melody said. “She cant but—” “I will try!” Renee said, stomping a boot into the wood. “So… hmm… interesting,” Lucas said. “What is?” Strike asked. “I can't get a name.” Lucas replied. “Can barely get anything about this old train, in fact, about to jump somewhere in the Atlantic ocean though?” “How do you—” “He just does” both Melody and Renee said together. “So your name?” Strike asked. “I…uh… Gem” the child replied. “You dont have one do you?” Melody asked. “Not as far as either of us can read” Lucas replied. “Gemini? So you think you have a twin?” Gem was silent for a while and then motioned people into a room. It was an engine room. With a piece of sword stuck into it. “So what it do?” Strike asked. “Teleport?” Renee replied. “Jumps” Gem replied. “Like me” “Like the rest of us.” Melody signed. “He is not stable, Strike.” Renne replied as Strike opened his mouth. “Literally. He jumps through space and time, themselves.” “A quantum.” Strike replied. “Fix it?” Gem said tears going down his face, now. “We’ll try” Melody said. “He's just a were-form, right?” Strik said. “We pull that piece there is no further guarantees” Melody replied. “We’re stuck with whatever we picked.” Renee said. “It’s not an easy road.” “Well, i'm the one who knows our answer.” Lucas replied, as reached for the sword piece.

“You could at least pretend to keep a lookout,” Renee said. Looking back at Lucas as he traced over the blue lines buried by sand. “I know Reg doesn’t see the point either, but it’s not like you’re doing anything.”
“As a pose to who? Yourself?” Lucas asked. “We all know who is going to fire off the flare first. And I've done enough pretending for my lifetime.” Renee slid over next to Lucas. “How did that end up happening, anyways?” “How else does an 8 year old fit in? When he knows everything everyone wants to hear?” Lucas replied, and Renee grabbed his shoulder. “You’ve tried being a 5 year old who loved hair dye?” Renee replied with a smile. “You can stabilize yours, I can't. I knew every answer. Knew my way around every bully, and what they wanted. I started making copies in advance until they were all afraid it was cursed.” Lucas began. “And no he hasn’t seen anything. He is just as bored as I am.” “Just jumping here to say hi are we, Strike?” Renee asked, neither turning around. “How do either of you do that? No wonder you were considered creepy.” Strike said. Renee giggles burst into a full on laughter. Lucas slapped his hand into his face, but soon after started laughing along with her. Strike stood there with a grin on his face. “I do more than bulldoze through the problems you know?” “Bulldozing with words is not something I thought you capable of.” Lucas replied. “But that doesn't mean it isn’t still bulldozing.” “What else is he going to do? It’s the same with everything else he doesnt understand.” Renee said. “You’re wrong.” Strike stated, and both turned to look at him. “I always thought it was cool. Breaking through walls. Getting punched square in the face, and not feeling a thing. Didn't realize until middle school that they were all just using me.” “I sometimes wonder if they were gonna do that anyways.” Renee replied. “I mean why us? Why anyone at all?” “What, like it had a purpose for all of this?” Strike asked. “It is a sword, Renee. Why would it be able to think?” “Why not?!” Renee asked. “You can shift your strength like it’s nothing. Lucas and Melody can read minds. And and…” “And you can shift your dna.” Lucas said as he stood up. “And there is our resident psychic.” Lucas closed his eyes, and gave a few gestures. “Wait, you and then Strike?” Renee asked. “That’s what he said.” Strike replied. “Lead on then, Lucas.” Renee opened her mouth as Lucas jumped down. Then darted after him but slipped on a rock. Strike grabbed her during his sprite, and jumped down with Lucas. “Am I going to be left out of the loop every time now?” “You say that like I knew this was gonna happen.” Strike said landing feet first on the train. “Reg!?” “Follow, Lucas!” Melody replied. “Reggie said to wait here, so the girls are in this together!” “Well?” Strike replied. “He went down the ladder to your left.” Renee said, grinning. “In a manner of speaking, anyways.” “Not as easy as it seems is it?” Strike replied, jumping down the open hole to his left. Setting Renee down shortly after. “Then again going with the flow was always my speed, and never yours. Guessing that’s what you like about him?” Renee stopped in her tracks and spun around. “Shut. Up. he was going this way. Probably because he feels another person.” “Oh it is most assuredly because he feels another person's presence.” Reginald said as he opened the door. “And—” “Strike! Catch!” Melody shouted as dropped through the same hole as the others. “It was pretty obvious the rock face we were on was going to collapse.” Melody explained with a grin. “Timing has always been more Reggie’s speed, so I left it to him.” “What exactly do you do?” Strike asked with a laugh. “The present.” Renee replied. “Reg sees various points ahead of us. Melody sees everything around her, currently, in more ways than one.” “And can shift it!” Strike replied. “That's why there are 3 shapeshifters among us.” “We are wasting time!” Reginald replied a bit annoyed. “I know Lucas was going in danger for a few seconds but—” Strike punched him in the stomach, letting Melody run ahead with Renee. “You can see parts of the future, so you’ve got no excuse to be denser than me! Now, come on!” “Lucas, we’re getting more of them not less.” Reginald replied. “I trust you realize the only fighter we have is Strike.”
“I don’t think he's fast enough to knock all of them out either.” Renee whispered, as well. “Were it just me than no. No way I knock 7 dudes out in one go.” Strike replied. “I rather like the plan. When did you come up with it?” Melody replied. Renee and Reginald look at each other confused. A few more strange figures followed the group. As they enter into the astronomy section. Reginald shoved Renee forward before dashing away himself. Strike pointed upward and planet upon planet fell and rolled over every person. One ball rolling just past Renee and Melody as Melody held Renee rather close. “The hell was that!” Renee yelled. “Someone could’ve told me!” “In my defense, no one told Reg, either.” Lucas replied. “And to answer the question Melody, I felt 3 around, and when everyone was talking I was trying to think how our one fighter can handle any more than that.” “Honestly, I'm a little impressed that Strike didn’t need to be told.” Reginald replied. “And that Renee wanted to be.” “Mel, hun?” Renee said. “You can let me go now, right?” Melody perked and blushed before letting Renee go. “I guess telling me was a risk we probably shouldn’t be taking.” “At least when it’s our only shot.” Lucas said. “That I could think of anyways.” “If there was a better one the notes weren’t telling me.” Melody replied. “Though I was rather focused on making sure this one worked.” “4 basically mind readers,” Renee sighed. “And honestly, it kind of nice not being one in on it for a change.” “Can’t say I’d ever feel the same,” Melody said. “I rather like being large and in charge” “It has its benefits I suppose.” Reginald added. “Though being aware of the plan only when it was about to happen was… intriguing.” “That actually reminds me. Strike, how did you know?” Renee asked. “He didn’t.” Lucas replied. “Not that I could read anyways.” “I’m the brawns here. Thought we covered that.” Strike answered. “One of the brains said we go somewhere, so I followed.” “So that’s why I didn’t pick up the movement until we walked in.” Reginald replied. “Most likely.” Lucas replied. “Actually I thought I’d have to shout it out to him.” “Oh come on now. I’m not that stupid. Big giant orbs equal good weapons? That’s a thought process I can handle.” Strike said. “So… grambling, huh?” Renee asked, turning to Lucas. “Starting to see the appeal, are you?” Lucas replied. “Regi, where would that train be now?” Melody interrupted. “It likely just moved.” Reginald began. “We should be able to catch it, still.” With that the group let Theo know their next move, and got a flight to their next stop. For the first time ever a sword piece might be found. What it does, and what that entails. Is something all of them were eager to discover. “Looks pretty wild, huh?” Renee said as she walked up to Strike.
“You always forget there was 7 once, ya know? At least I do.” Strike replied. “What happened to the other 3?” “The other 4” Renee replied. “Back when it wasn’t just one planet.” “Bullheaded as I sometimes am, I’ve never understood countries,” Strike said. “Just sometimes?” Renee said, giggling. “Ha. Ha.” Strike said. “We find this train yet?” “Ya know, it's weird.” Renee replied. “They looked through the locomotive section, the historical fables section, and even the sword section. But I was told to ask you, we think we’re missing something.” “Why are you asking me then?” Strike asked. “This aint my field, and we all know it.” “But weirdly placed this is always your field,” Renee said. “So where would you put a train running through the mountains?” Strike paused for a moment, and then raised his eyebrows. “We’re sure it has been running?” Renee tilted her head. “Why would whether or not it is running mat—landmarks!” Both darted off. “You arrived.” Lucas replied, greeting them. “Took me quite some time as well. Heard it off some elderly man, I think.” “I told you you could tone it out.” Renee happily replied. “Learn anything?” “It’s location varies, or so they say.” Lucas pointed to the map. “Looks almost like a track to me with a few stops.” Reginald leaned into the map directly passing Lucas. Melody stared at him “You feel it too then, Reg?” She asked. “No matter how much you insist Melody. I’m not like you. I do not feel it. I know it.” Reginald replied. Melody signed. “We think a sword piece is there.” “Know!” Reginald yelled back. “A sword piece? Strike replied. “Then it is broken.” “That always made the most sense.” Renee said. “No one ever knows where the thing is, but feelings of it being close come from all around the world.” “But no one ever found a piece,” Melody finished. “maybe because they’ve been moving.” “It’s next stop is here.” Reginald pointed. “But by the time we get there…. We should go here.” “Not yet we shouldn’t.” Lucas replied. “I would think the 2 of you could sense it more.” “They’ve never been good at that.” Renee said. “Usually leave it to me.” “Being followed?” Strike whispered. “Who do I knock out?” “I think we should head to the astronomy section next.” Lucas replied. The group looked at each other and just nodded. “What is so difficult to process about an interest in sports?” Melody asked.
“Your interest in something as simple as sports,” Reginald began. “is impossible to process.” “So you never wanted to step away for a moment?” Melody didn’t take her eyes off the screen. “Let your attention just… What's the word? fade?” “Attention like mine never fades, miss Yarnon.” Reginald adjusted his glasses. “Never from the newest floating of our chairs to Renee’s newest found focus. Or Strike’s new found calm for that matter.” “We’re on a mission.” Strike replied sitting down. “I never get carried away on missions. How are they doing?” “Better than Regi, but not by much” Melody replied as Strike gave a roaring laugh. “Strike bend a steel table. Throw a glass at one of these monkeys still hitting on Renee. For Eldegon’s sake do—” Strike put his right hand on Reginald’s left shoulder. “You want something unexpected Reg?” Strike pointed at the screen. “Watch Newton right here. Number—” “Number 43, yes yes. He’s going to punch the tesla to the half line, and let 25 catch as their trademark.” Reginald replied, looking at the screen bored until Newton dash off with the tesla passed number 25. “Fascinating,” Melody said. As all three of them watched the ball get passed 2 sectors past the half line of the field just as Newton was stunned. “Why now of all times?” “Witner!” Both Strike and the bar and a random bar patron replied. Strike throwing a glass down on the floor and watching it bounce back up. “Hey, that's a neat one.” the random customer replied. And ordered both of them a drink. “For the show.” He tipped a hat, and headed back to his table. “So Witner?” Melody asked. “That’s the reason for such a change?” “Number 33.” Strike replied. “They got a personal thing going on, I think. He is always charging to stop Newton.” “Hmm.” Melody replied. “Always reading the rhythm. Did you two get anything?” “I get a lot of thoughts about a train out in the mountains.” Lucas said. “A place like this gets a little challenging with Renee around.” “I got mostly the same.” Renee replied, grabbing her hair and running through her hands and it shifted back to being a redhead. “Hope you lot have been enjoying yourselves.” “Strike got something more, I sure” Melody said, face still glued to the screen. “You two will get your break at the museum.” “We gotta go to a museum?!” Strike groaned. “Afraid so, Strike” Renee said. “It’s definitely an old train, so that would be our best bet.” Strike’s stool bent as he sank into it. Melody stared at him giggling. “You are going to fix that before we leave, right?” “Such a child.” Renee sighed. “Strike! Reg!” “I’m fixing it. I’m fixing it.” Strike replied. Getting up and kicking the stool’s legs. “Regi?” Melody shook him. “Understanding sports will have to wait.” Reginald snapped out of a trace of sorts. “Unfortunate. I was beginning to understand.” “You never watched?” Lucas said. “I get too bored, personally. Gambling is the one that helps me.” “Gambling?” Reginald replied. “Helps?” “So many thoughts, and they do none of them.” Lucas replied. “It’s surprising for a change.” “Makes it all seem normal.” Melody continued, her sight locked back into the game. Strike gave a loud clap getting everyone’s attention. “The sooner we get there the sooner I can’t stop hating it.” “Miss Yarnon” Renee began walking towards the target. “it's been quite some time.” “Long enough for you to forget to call me Melody, it seems.” Melody Yarnon replied. “How are you, dear?” I’ve been managing.” Renee replied. “With the help of Lucas, of course.” “She underestimated herself, same as ever.” Lucas said, walking up to them. “Melody, was it? I hear you do some rather important work.” “Not it seems.” Melody replied. “Important enough to hear about you. Mister Lucas, was it?” “Oh, I’m,” Lucas rubbed the back of his head. “Like Theo really. My place here is purely educational.” “And he says I'm the one underestimating.” Renee continued through Melody’s glare. “If you’ll excuse me.” Melody said as Renee tried to open her mouth again. “Duty calls.” “Are you sure this is gonna work?” Renee asked Lucas after Melody stormed into the bathroom. “I’m sure it's our best shot. She’ll be 5 minutes, I should mingle, and gather what little I can. You… play a bit hard to get, but also let it happen.” Lucas replied. “Wait what?” Renee asked. “You didn’t explain this earlier!?” “You’re better all-natural.” Lucas replied. “Be yourself.” “Lucas!” Renee glared at him, but jumped a bit when he stepped forward. “We're more alike than you think.” Lucas replied after stepping forward. “You got a personality in there, and far less of a reason not to use it.” Renee's face went a bright red, before shaking her head. “You know I always wanted to hear that!” “But does that mean I don’t believe it?” Lucas replied, giving mock finger guns before vanishing. “Lucas left?” Melody replied, approaching Renee again. “His attention wonders.” Renee said. “Honestly, he’s like a child at times.” “Renee, dear. You could do so much better than any man like that.” Melody held out her hand as the music changed to more of a slow tune. “A girl like you could literally have anyone she wanted eating out the palm of her hand.” “Using your powers for a dance? Very unlike you.” Renee raised an eyebrow, but took the hand nonetheless. “You ever think the girl who could be anything wants to feel like she is something?” “You feel like that around him, or me?” Melody replied, dancing along with her. “It’s not every day I use my power so casually” “It’s not everyday you see a big chest and the hair of your dreams.” Renee said. “So few people want me to be, well me.” Melody sighed. “What does Lucas do? And what did he say to do, for that matter?” There was a long pause before Renee spoke. “He is like me, but mentaully. More power, and more limits. He told me something I’ve always wanted to hear.” “Renee the shapeless, questioning herself.” Melody said. “Never thought I’d see that day.” “Then why go after me?” Renee asked. “Why not join us, or just go grab the damn thing?” “Music.” Melody began. “It’s about a connection. It's not about noise or gerne. The word or the beat.” Melody started taking the lead as they danced. “A thing Lucas would know.” Renee said as they danced. “Islands. Somewhere in the pacific, I think.” Melody continued. “You’re dancing against dangerous people, but this Lucas of ours.” She pulled Renee close. “For now, He’s better for you than I could ever be.” “And you’ll just take that?” Renee asked. “Melody Yarnon is accepting a loss?” “I see everything, and therefore I never accept anything.” Melody replied. “A pity that Lucas is probably the only person who will ever realize what that fully means.” “We need her?” Strike asked. “We need what we can get.” Theo replied. “If Lucas can grab her then I fail to see what difference it makes.” “We still don’t know what she does. How can that possibly be helpful?” Strike asked. “Yes, because we're aware of what I do.” Lucas replied. “Oddly enough.” Renee replied walking into the group with Melody. “In a way we have 3 shapeshifters.” “One physical, one mentual, and one attune with time.” Theo replied. “All from a sword from space.” “That does raise the question, Miss Yarnon.” Lucas said. “You’re certain there’s no chance?” “As certain as I am that you’re just asking that to make Renee a bit jealous.” Melody replied. “And that’s working.” “What are you hiding from me Theo?” Strike slide to the bar, and whisper.
“I must say, Strike,” Theo chugged a glass. “I didn’t think it was in you to whisper.” “I've never seen Renee have this much fun at a party.” Strike replied. “Lucas likes you, the professor he’s never met. Hate Lyngarod, the professor he has met.” “Perhaps Renee’s new found ability to hold herself together has more positives than we realize.” Theo said before taking another drink. “Did you have a point?” “That’s another thing.” Strike replied, slamming the table. “Where did that come from?! I know you know.” “Really now Strike, I don’t even have powers.” Theo replied. “What would I know?” “For someone so powerless.” Reginald said approaching both. “You seem remarkably attune to my own.” “Gentlemen honestly,” Theo replied as both Reginald and Strike glared. “For the first time in her entire life Reginald ‘the clockwork’ finds an event that links to Renee ‘the shapeless’ and you’re wondering why I thought they would be good for each other?” “Not everything Reg links is good.” Lucas replied walking up with Renee. “But rarely does whatever he finds excites him.” “Speaking of research.” Theo said. “Lucas, seems to read a mixture of desires, surface thoughts, and emotions.” Renee replied. “He knows where to steer the conversation to get CLOSE to what he wants, but can’t always do it.” “I didn’t get the sense of wanting to shift, I'm told we all connect Renee with.” Lucas continued. “But more than a few times she walked away, and came back as a new girl to… push things along.” “And he can tell immediately.” Renee finished. “Shifts right back into it without a care in the world.” “Unlike us,” Theo replied. “Truly remarkable.” “And the sword?” Strike replied. “I only told the higher ups that a better understanding of these two ever shifting powers could lead us to the sword faster. Not that it would produce results with—” “You insisted on this place, this date and time, and you know whoever I'm working for now demands results.” Lucas said. “So why don’t I just hear about who I'm supposed to be talking to?” “Within the hour a Miss Yarnon will be arriving.” Theo Replied. “She has more information than she has ever let even Renee know.” “And she took a liking to a certain form?” Lucas continued. Renee shifted her red hair to a dirty blonde, and began adjusting her figure with the sways of her hips. “Nowhere near your taste, as you can see, but I'm sure we can manage.” Renee replied. “Theo…” Strike began. “We were told repeatedly not to interfere with her or what she is working on.” “I suppose the time has come to reveal the cards.” Theo replied. ----2 DAYS AGO---- Voice 1: Renee desire and happiness will not lead us to her remarkable powers. Voice 2: Ever the fool in this play of ours. Voice 1: WHAT?! Voice 3: that the shapeless controls her power at all is step forward in a way we have never seen. Lyngarod: Theo and I agree. We’ve never seen her do it before. It is by all means an evolution in her power. Theo: An evolution that makes her more aware, and more observant. Voice 4: it has the will to bring to the sword, perhaps? Theo: We do not know that yet, and a simple test drive will not-- Voice 2: it’s fortunate then that you are not requesting “a simple test drive”. Voice 1: produce results Theo. Or even “the fool” well have had enough. ----PRESENT TIME---- “They cut off after that.” Theo replied. “They always cut us off, and I’m beginning to question which side I joined all those years ago.” Theo looked at the group of four in front of him. “So what I ask of you now will not be easy or safe, but I have come to think it is for the best.” “So this is our room.” Renee said. “Professor Neslurk, thinks it's best we stay as close as we can for now.”
“Professor Neslurk wants us to control ourselves more like.” Lucas replied. “Lyngarod does, actually.” Renee closed the door. “He won’t admit it, but my shifting drives him a bit crazy sometimes. Theo, Neslurk, is more concerned about your last headache.” “Stuffy old place like that have many new thoughts. This is more like a city square, easier to… adjust.” Lucas said. “Well we already moved the bed in, and Strike is drunk so you’re stuck with me anyways.” Renee said, opening the door again. “Yes, there is a bar. I guess we can go there next.” “Just a classic Vodka and Sprite.” Lucas replied. “You're going for that weak sauce!” Strike replied, slamming his fist on the table. “Rum and Coke. The man versions.” “They have the same amount of alcohol.” Lucas replied. “As does pineapple cider you're actually ordering. A bit of a tradition, I assume?” “It's Strike's way of saying ‘welcome, person who I dunno if I like yet’” Renee explained. “Though how he manages to time it perfectly every time is beyond me.” “That one floorboard, perhaps?” Lucas replied. “seventh up, second to the right. I always wait for someone to press during the tour.” Strike replied, nodding. “You read minds from all over, huh?” “Strike,” Renee replied. “I didn’t even ask—” “You pretty much did.” Lucas interrupted. “Best to know how every power functions. So then Strike.” Strike pushed back the chair he slid out, and Renee raised an eyebrow. “You’re actually going first?” Strike grabbed his drink glass, and began squeezing it. “Brings back memories, does it?” “A few.” Renee teased. “Some of them I don’t think you want me to recall.” “Now you listen. Here. Woman. I still would have done ya then.” Strike spread his arm wide. “No Regrets!” And slammed his open hands together against the glass. “Strike can shift his strength to others, or take it from himself.” Renee explained. “He can do a full force assault on anything he wants, and it won’t break.” “As long as he focused, maybe,” Lucas said. Strike stepped up to him swing a stool around wildly. “Nope. As long as I will it I am in charge of the power levels around me. No thinking required.” “So he claims.” Renee replied. “Though maybe we’ll finally get an answer?” “Hmm. No, seems to be just, because he doesn’t want anything to break.” Lucas replied. “So far as I can read.” “And what exactly can you read?” Renee asked. “Desires? Surface thoughts?” “Honestly, I don’t really know.” Lucas said. “I just look, and know what people want to hear, or don’t want to hear. Their hopes and fears, I guess.” “So Strike just hopes he doesn’t break anything, and then doesn’t?” Renee asked as Strike set the stool down. “Mostly. Something seems to be deeper, but I have no idea what.” Lucas explained. “And yourself?” “I”m kind of the same as you.” Renee began. “My body just changes. I know why, and I know how to pick between forms. I—” Renee jumped a bit as Lucas stared face to face with her. “Yes, okay? I do like this form.” “You’ve never said you’ve liked a form before.” Strike said. “Well I have now… shut up.” Renee replied as Strike smirked. “Hey, if I'm barking up the wrong tree, then it’s just another miss.” Strike replied. “There’s other reasons…” Renee replied timidly. “Other desires anyway.” “Still ain’t my problem.” Strike replied. “So then Lucas. Why don’t you tell me something?” Both looked to Strike as he asked. “Should we be trusting Lyngarod?” “I must insist, madam, that you do not—” Professor Lyngarod spun around as Housekeeper kept walking.
“He can not find the sword.” The elderly, female, housekeeper replied. “What?” The Professor asked. “Do you think I have not tried Mr. Lyngarod” The housekeeper said sternly “I’m unaware of how he even knows it's a sword. But it is the only thing he has ever insisted on. That, and that he has no idea where it is.” “His connection with a visual aetheric current would provide a visual citation unlike any we’ve—” “Everyone sees a sword.” Renee replied. “No matter the power. No matter the type of connection it's always a sword.” The Professor looked back at the housekeeper, opening his mouth, closing again as she spoke. “I am no stranger to these sorts of matters, professor.” The housekeeper replied before he could speak. “You may of course look around. You will not find anything in this house changed, however.” “Well then, perhaps we will witness some changes.” The Professor turned around. “Reginald Upstairs. Renee, downstairs.” Reginald put an arm out in front of Renee as both walked towards the stairs at first. “Professor?” The Professor turned around. “Would it be alright, if Renee did upstairs?” The Professor tilted his head. “Doesn't your ability work better closer to a clock?” Reginald blinked. “Is that why I'm always sent upstairs!?” He stomped towards the professor who began to provide excuses while Reginald continued to yell. “Look, you’re right. I’m sorry. I… Renee!” The professor shouted to no reply before waving it off. Renee was already halfway up the stairs when the professor called. Assured she would not be called again, she began walking around the hallways encircling the lower courtyard. Her hair, her basic shape, sometimes even gender changed but nothing interesting to her. She started to feel a bit disheartened, and looked around worried before her eyes went wide. The boy rolled over so was now facing the girl that just entered his room. “Who are you?” He blinked a few times before sitting up. “What do you even want?” “What, you’re not gonna tell me?” Renee said, pointing at the night sky rolling through the ceiling. “No interest at all?” “None with a girl who only wants the stars.” The boy replied, turning his head away. “Well, how about your name?” Renee asked, hopping up on to the elevated bed. “My is Renee. You know since you asked.” The boy looked back over to Renee. “Lucas,” he replied. “Lucas! Where is this man’s journal!?” The housekeeper shouted up. Lucas sighed, and put his face in his hand. “The cat knocked it behind the table!” Renee looked at him. “You know that before?” “It was a small thing… pretty obvious.” Lucas replied. Renee paused. “When?” Renee asked. “What?” Lucas replied. “When?” She repeated. “Ugh, like an hour ago, why? Hey!” Lucas got up and went after Renee. “Reginald?” Professor Lyngarod went over concerned. Reginald put a hand out in front of him. “What are these gears? Because they are stunning.” Reginald said. “A symphony, and I’ve never heard it before!” he replied, stumbling around. “What is this… this connection? What has occured?” “Professor!” Renee said coming down with Lucas. “Renee not now!” The Professor replied. “Who is this child!?” The housekeeper asked as she walked in on the scene. “You assured me there were 3 of you! Who was this with you, Lucas?” “This is,” Professor Lyngarod sighed. “Still Renee,” he began. “Her gift is Succubus. Normally, her body changes to the… um… well, a preferred appearance. Not necessary of a sexual—” “You get this harlet out of my house.” The housekeeper replied. “I will not be allowed to defile this gift of stars.” “Enough!” Lucas shouted. The room turned to him. “Ugh, there’s too much.” “Too much desire.” Renee answered before anyone could ask. “You’re… You’re like me.” “On the mental side,” Renee held Lucas up as struggle to reply. “But yes, stars have nothing to do with—” Renee kept him upright as he passed out. “He needs to come with us.” She said before pausing. “He deserves a chance.” The housekeeper gave no objection, too stunned by recent revelations. Strike carrying everything back on with his usual ease. Stopping only once “Hey, Renee.” Renee looked at Strike then at Lucas who was on his back. “A chance at what?” Renee stared at Lucas for a few seconds. “Life.” |
