The steps echo downward. Ever decreasing in speed as Lydria grabbed in her the moment it flashed a Seafoam Green. “Be careful. Both of you.” Two magma bubbles pop as the ground quake. The Fire Gem soft pulsing inaudible as the echoes tumbled down.  Only shifts in heat behind Lydria’s back reveal the pulses were still there. An indecipherable pattern exposing the Gem’s own instabilities. She turned her head as spun the wind once around the room. They were coming… at some point.
Trudging down the steps Both Jared and Aaron doubted themselves looking down the spiraling stairs with no end in sight. “I just think we should just turn around. Were not prepared.”
“We meant to be back home months ago now, yet we are only 1/4th done. If we’re turning because we’re underprepared, why not just go home?”
“... Maybe we should be home. They’re people through their portals, but they’ve been forced to slow down. I’d imagine they’ll keep it that way for at least a few weeks. Maybe more people will join us, if-”
“Getting back in a second time would be too difficult. Besides most of those coming in are loners, now.”
“You’re sure?” Arron asked.
“Who else would come in a crisis like this?” Jared replied.
“... When there’s a flood you move people to higher ground…” Aaron said. The talking stopped when both could finally see the last step. Taking their last turn they began the trek across the lone bridge looming over the pool of magma behind. A single island with the Fire Gem floating center and Lydria staring at them on the other side.
“Okay, I’ll admit it.” Lydria announces watching the wave of sweat drop on the hard, hot stone. “If this somehow turns out to be a working plan, i’ll be impressed.”
“Lava isn’t even… fire related… it’s mostly earth…” Aaron said panting.
“Molten earth. Also we’re underground, so it’s magma.” Lydria corrected. “You’re more than welcome to leave, if you’d prefer not to deal with it.”
“You know we can’t do that.” Jared responded.
“I don’t know anything about you to be honest with you.” Lydria said with her swords swaying in mid-air. “I don’t know why you’re still here. I don’t what you thinking breaking these gems is going to do and-”
“Send! People! Back! Home!” Arron shouted.
Lydria’s swords stop swinging as she stared at him. Both scimitars plunging into the ground. “...How?”
“What?” Aaron questioned.
“You haven’t seen it? Haven’t heard a sound? Haven’t seen the amount of chaos you’ve created?” Lydria stepped forward and brought her two swords a float again.  “You were the first one to seek out magic, you must be feeling it. The tug?”
“The pull backwards.” Jared answered when Aaron remained silent. “A world pull corrected?”
“That… there’s only a handful of people on this planet that know that term. Who did you learn it from?... And more importantly-”
“A handful? I learn of it, from a first level quest.” Jared replied. “From getting an Ecchi flower.”
“If you know how it works, then what are you still doing here?!” Lydria stomped the ground.
“I was expecting more of a… reaction…” Jared admitted.
“Wait what?” Aaron replied before ducking backwards as Lydria’s two flaming swords swung towards Jared.
“Hopeless.” Lydira sighed, slashing again with a twist of her arm, and brought pillars of Lava across the bridge with a sweep of the other. “You came here as unprepared as the first day you appeared… Expecting to win when you don’t even know how. Declaring people wrong before even asking why… But why am I suprised... That you Light magic users ever do…” Blocking an arrow composed of water, fired by Jared, with one sword, extinguishing it.
“What about you?” Jared asked. “You would fight hopeless people with such an advantage?”
“If it would knock you down a few pegs, gladly, but that’s not gonna happen, huh?” Lydria placed one arm behind her back, and the extinguished sword fell to the ground. “Wait for your two friends too, if you’d like?”
“If none of this matters why fight at all?”
“You wouldn’t get it. No one does.” Lydria took a deep breath. “You go first by the way.”
