The political rant: The last words of a Bernie Bro

So I’m not totally sure why I’m writing this speech down again, other than some strange desire to want to. Doing the stuff I’ve wanted has led to me having fun trying this writer thing out though, so despite my assumption that nothing in this letter will be done on the off chance that somebody even vaguely important enough to do something reads it.

I’m probably not voting for Joe Biden, and I'm honestly considering a vote for Trump this time around. I don’t like him, and he doesn’t provide the entertainment he used to. But Biden is not a choice, he is a continuation. He or his vice president will take us to slightly better than Obama times, at best, and eventually a bunch of insanely disillusioned and disenfranchised people will vote for another “worst president ever”. And they’ll still be right, and we still won’t listen. We’ll still be right where we are. A country of people mostly either homeless or living by their last paycheck. Unprepared to deal with something we knew was coming 20 years ago. The stock market eventually crashing again,  because we have allowed an endless amount of companies already richer than they would or should ever need to be to repeat the exact same mistakes they made not even a decade ago. And I will still be, roughly, here, at the bottom of the totem pole “essential” when it’s important, and not pay enough to live off of when it’s not. And after two basically, if not actually, rigged primaries, the one guy who was actually talking about how broken the system is refusing to attack the embodiment of it, and still getting told to compromise by the people who never seem to want to compromise with my politics. You win. We’re not going big, so I’m going home. Because we don’t need more time to change, we have no time left to give. The system as it stands, as far as I am concerned, will remain unstable should either Joe Biden or Donald Trump get elected. We’re driving off a cliff, and I’m being asked to vote to move 5 feet forward so we don’t move 10 feet forward.

Nonetheless, as I did with Hillary, I’ll be watching, and staying up to date. So when the party so concerned with beating Trump does not take any steps to secure the people they need to do that, maybe ask them why this time? One option that would pretty much win me is we abandon the two-party system after this election. And the electoral college would probably have to go to make that work, but both are hopelessly outdated, and one leaves at least half of every state without a voice. California had roughly 40% of people vote for Romney, Texas had the same for Obama, and exactly zero percent of that vote mattered. Both parties clearly have several sects to them at this point, and we’re only reducing the amount of ideas heard by not letting people on the stage. Now that would have to happen like right now for it to even work, so the second, probably more logical option, is that we don’t have a total repeat of 2016. That we don’t have yet another incredibly questionable primary. With exit polls over 10 points off, the 2nd place candidate dropping out with 3 others to support the trailing candidate literally hours before one of the biggest voting days, still acquire a fairly large chuck of the base, and then have to watch everything we stand for get slapped in the face. I’ve heard people say pick Nina Turner as a VP.  Which is a good idea, but I’m going to need some actually serious power in the cabinet and legislative branch to be supported before I move. I end this offer, which is probably already considered absurd, with two facts. 8 years of Obama led you to people thinking Trump was a good idea. And the last time you ignored the Bernie movement, it didn’t go well for you.
