Rabbit Hole Carnival: Zero

“What brings you lot back here?”  Renee asked. “Your show isn’t for a few days.”

“They need a bit of inspiration.” Valenti said. “And we are here,so I thought to come to you.”

“Well that explains the custom order.” Renee replied, brushing her hair out of her face. “What explains the reason why it was ever made at all?”

“What explains why we could make an order at all?” the strongman replied.

“Oh we opened that up a while ago, and I made sure it was easy to find.” Renee. Said. “lots of people are in need of help, and we've gotten a lot of needs lately. It seems like the thing to do.”

“They haven’t got any new inspiration lately.”  Valenti replied.

“So it's like back then right now.” Renee said. “What happened that got them so worked up,, after that.”

“That I don’t know.” Valenti said. “I know that they got lost, and found themselves again. So I brought them here in hopes that might help.”

“This a place of the lost afterall” Renee asked. “Right?”

“For me it happens  at times, but I was introduced time and time again to people who wanted to be like me.” The tightrope walker replied. “Who saw me, and decided they wanted to move again”

“They have similar stories.” Valenti said. “It may be time to give the show.”

“If you are so sure it hits zero, then maybe you are washed up. It does come for us all.”  Renee said.
The strongman tried to attack her, but got held by the tightrope walker and Valenti.

“Think about it.” The tightrope walker said. “Remember who Renee is. Remember how she said drinks like it was nothing?”

“She has something to say.” Valenti “If that got you all fired up perhaps that's all we needed.”

“If you’re sure it reached zero.” the Tightrope walker replied, take her drink. “Was no one else paying attention to that?! What does that mean?”

 “I’ve heard it but… What does that mean?” Valenti replied.

“It's something I always say from time to time.” Nick said, having come down the stairs.

“Oh!” Renee said. “Daddy, I'm so sorry. I meant to say it might be a bit rowdy around here for this one.”

“No, I was warned many times.” Nick said. “I see what you mean about the bathroom thing now, hard to get yourself back to sleep with all this noise at times.”

“Not answering the question.” The tightrope walker said. “What does that phrase mean?”

“What’s got you all so worked up now.” Renee said, and that held her up as both the strongman and tight walker charges at her. “Okay okay.”

“I don’t not to get always hold them back.” Valenti replied. “So it’s meaning?”

“Once a very long time ago when it was a standing in one spot show you said that the Bubbledrum was done. That didn’t inspire people like it used to. And a certain little girl was heartbroken.” Renee said

“And then I said we’d try something, and made it a traveling show.” Valenti replied. “And what did that girl do then?”

“Cry her heart out.” Renee said. “ Stayed up a few nights, and did her very best to save up, and finally attended a show. I hear she ended up being a part of it, and still serves in a small little bar.”

“Sounds like that show might have been the one thing keeping her going.” The tightrope walker said, as the rest of the show got up.

“Something pretty close.” Renee replied. “If you’re sure it has reached zero, then all means go and be done.”

“I think someone has told us all that it can’t reach zero.” Valtenti replied.
