Rabbit Hole Carnival: Safe Drink

“There we are. One double mixed Festival” Renee said.”will that be all?”

“I think so.” Amy replied. “You’re sure okay I stay a bit lite?”

“Considering I’ve been staying late since before I was 18? Yeah, I'm pretty sure.” Renee said. “Do you um…. Need a bit of protection tonight?”

“What would I order if that were the case?” Amy asked.

Renee wrote something down on the napkin. “Got it?”

“Got it.” Amy said.

“Good.” Renee replied. “You need anything else, you need anything else let me know.”

“Did you order one then?” Amy asked.

“No, but I did help make the menu.” Renee replied and sat down. “Ran away from home, and this has been my safe place ever since.”

“Yeah? Well maybe I’ll take to here if I need some protection then.” Amy said.

“We’ll save a seat then, “ Nick said. “Renee is preferred, I take it?”

“Yeah, mister?” Amy asked

“Shem” Both Nick and Renee answered. “And my apologies then. I’ll let Renee will be your host then.”
“No five hunters then I guess.” Amy said.

“Nope” Renee replied “ I don’t make his, he doesn’t make mine”

“I prefer this one anyways." Amy said, taking a sip of her festival. “And… he would like it too.”

“You care to tell what makes it mean so much?” Renee said. “It's pretty clear it means alot.”

“You promise not to laugh?” Amy replied. “It's pretty clear you’re not okay with dad. Whatever he did.”
“He did a lot of things, but my uncle that you met?” Renee replied. “Taught me a lot about life. To a point I knew to go here.”

“This is the kind of drink… where if I ordered wrong even slightly. He would’ve jumped.” Amy said. “But he would’ve thought it was a safe place if I ordered it.”

“The kind of person who never really let you know what's going on.” Renee said. “Or already decided before he bothers to listen.”

“Yeah.” Amy replied. “So if I could enjoy it?”

“Of course… but if I may? Renee said. “Daddy wouldn’t hurt either.”

“He… Nick felt like that.” Am said. “But I..

 wasn’t really feeling up for a male tonight.”

“But you were feeling up to talking about your dad?” Renee asked.

“Yeah, because he would’ve… killed the next person who pushed you towards that.”

“Would do anything. Be anything. Beat anything.” Renee said. “Just to prove a point.”

“Yeah…” Amy said. “And he would… oi he was here”

Both girls  stared at each other. As Renee pours another round “ another festival dink”

“Yeah.” Amy said “in fact? Two!”

“One for you one for him” Renee said

“No.” Amy said.. “One for me, one for a Double Rabbit.”

“Coming right up.” Renee said.
