Rabbit Hole Carnival: Good Enough

“You know what, Adam? Imma have asked you to leave.” Renee replied. “You caused enough trouble in the name of the ‘greater good’ and I'm sick of it.”

“Okay let’s calm down. I didn’t mean anything by—” Adam started.

“Yes. You. Did.” Renee replied. “You think I didn’t notice? The way you look at me? The way you judge me? This is home, Adam! And you don’t get to change that, because you're my brother!”

“Mom misses you! Dad got better, this tantrum of yours needs to stop.” Adam replied, as got up.
“Yet you're still here.” Renee replied. “And he’s not, which says all it needs to Unless, or course you wanna go home right now?” 

“You know I can’t do that.” Adam said.

“You can’t?” Renee said. “But dads been getting better, hasn’t he?”

“Renee, please don’t.” Adam said

“Don’t what?” Renee replied. “Put on the cute innocent girl voice. Make a show, because that's the only way I get listened to?”
And then I get beaten up, and know you don’t care!” Adam said.

“127.” Renee replied. “ When I broke the lamp, but we were playing hide and seek. When you tugged my hair, and somehow I got blamed for it? When I broke a plate by mistake, and you yelled at me never do that?  I was 7! Adam.”

“I was 11, Renee!” Adam replied. “ It got our dad off our back didn’t it”

A group of sailors got behind Renee. And growled.

“Yeah.” Renee replied. “Yes yes it did.  But at what cost? Yes, I was 7 and you were 11. And we both should’ve done things differently, and which is why you should leave!”

“Captian Bellow?” Nick said. “It seems like my niece has got it covered?”

“Aye.” Bellow replied. “Didn’t think I’d be hearing about this part. One round on me!” We ought teach at least one Shem to do some good.”

“Put a hold on that, daddy!”  Renee replied. “I think it's ready.”

“Another one?” Adam asked. “Guess he was right about you”

“Get out Adam!” Renee said.

“Now lad.” Bellow said. “What is its name, lass?

“I was leaning towards ‘Anchor’” Reene replied. Salt water themed so it seemed right.”

“That it does.” Bellow said. “A good enough name if I ever heard one!”

“Anchor it is then.” Renee said. “You wanna try the first brew?

“We love to, I think." one sailor said. “And maybe we’ll bring some dock lad to try as well.”

“Here here!” Bellows said

“If that is what  they want.” Adam said

“Adam” Renee replied. “Out. now!”

“Renee!” Adam said.

“Adam” Rneee said back.

You don’t own the place.” Adam said. 

“You can’t do that,” Adam replied. “You can't make me leave!”

“True.” Renee said. “ I still can’t” the 3 sailors show behind Renee. “But they can, and that’s good enough for me.”
