Rabbit Hole Carnival: Clockwork

“Becuase I don’t want to!” A young girl shouted. “What about that can you not understand?!”

“You know it is possible for some things to be none of your business.” Renee said. “In a bar or otherwise, I think you’ve caused enough trouble tonight.”

“Okay, okay.” an Older man replied. “I’ll back off.”

“Sir, I'm afraid you don’t understand.” Renee said. “You are on the ban list as of now. Now get out.”
“Well, wait now I said I’d back off.” The older man replied. “Surely, you can—”

“No, we can’t, Rob.” Renee said. “We can’t let you stumble in here, and ask every still night until you are told by one of us to stop. We can however make this at one safe place for Meadow here.”

“Family is everything!” Rob yelled.

“Is it now?” Meadow asked. “Becuase this random bar just showed more concerned and protection for me, then most of my family has my entire life!”

“This is your fault!" Rob said before getting up try and punch Renee.

“You don’t seriously think this is my first bar fight do you?” Renee said. Dodging near perfectly with a few mugs.

“This ain’t your bar!” Rob replied.

“True.” Nick said, and picked Robert up by the collar of his shirt. “She was just about to take her break in fact, however this bar is in fact mine.”

“With my dad did that for me…”  Meadow said.

“Oh my dad runs like clockwork too.” Renee replied. “But I leave that to his brother, Uncle Nick, to figure that out these days. May I sit down?”

“Seat is free as far as I’m concerned.” Meadow said. “He’s really done that every day?”

“Not that we mind you coming in 4 days in a row, but yes it has been.” Renee said.

“Would you ladies care for something new?” Nick asked. “You can be the first test taster.”
“So you were keeping up with me.” Renee said. “I guess we're taking two?”

“Fine by me.” Meadow replied. “Whatever it is, it beats going home after all this… So I guess this isn’t home to either?”

“No, it is.” Renee said. “My old home is a different story. I thought of just staying there too, but someone just had to go and treat me like a person.”

“My apologies, dear madam, and for the wait my dear ladies.” Nick replied, before he sat the drinks down. “I’ll need you here with an hour or so, can’t get near half these people out without your word.”
“You got it, daddy.” Renee replied with a mock salute.

“Could I... stay a bit later if needed?” Meadow asked. “I think I need to make a call.”

“I’ll handle her, if we need to.” Renee said, and waited for Nick to walk away. “Called to who?”

“This might sound weird, but I have this friend, but I swear she just always knows these thing” Meadow said. “And she told me if I got into any trouble, call her. And Knowing Rob and my family it's gonna be a whole thing.”

Both girls took a swig, and chuckled. “Guess they aren’t the one?” Meadow said. “Not the apple falls far, it seems.”

“Not with me and him at least. You had a call to make?”

Meadow made her call. “Em?... I am fine, and even made a new friend, I think.  But well… I need a ride. Just stop by the place I told you about… They’ll keep here for a bit after they close they 've already said so.”
