Don't Look Up

Between Jet Lag, a long work week, and never quite knowing what the plans were this weekend, I'm tired. I like to write the end to World Between, and finally finish the one big project that I’ve been keeping up with for a few years now. But since it is not to a point where I know I can sit down and write it out quite yet. Without further ado a review of Don’t Look Up.

Don’t Look Up has a single flaw. That flaw being it hits a little too close to home. A mountain-sized meteor heading straight towards earth is not a world ending event, but a political move, conspiracy theory, and a business opportunity. The characters are as colorful as they are relevant to our present day scenarios. The genre of Satire is a questionable choice of movie in this day and age perhaps it always is, but nonetheless the film does suffer from its rhythm. While fantastic some of the characters are often either too insane to really believe. The frustration of the main character, while understandable, feels like it would get her kicked out of most rooms. I can not help but feel that humanity is not as lost as the movie reports, at least, not yet.

The ending of the movie could have been done in many ways, but the direction chosen by the movie does drive home the message rather well. Thinking about it now it does raise a few questions, but I’m probably recalling a fair bit more than most ever will. Overall the satire has earned its popularity, and while worth the watch. Even if it drives one mad enough to watch in parts at times.
