Phil had looking over the edge for a while as though he was hoping to make a map of the place.

“What’s going on?” The beastly silhouette said joining him. “Quite a change of pace, tonight.”

“Yes.” the usual nameless voice introduce himself once again. “Tonight’s mazes is ‘The Choice’ A giant labyrinth in which one faces their decision.”

The beastly silhouette began walking down the stairs, barely looking at the layout. “I thought these were supposed to get harder?” He asked before vanishing at the bottom.

Phil walked down shortly after. “Wish, I was as sure as that.”

“Do you now?” Phil turned around, and froze for a moment. A distorted version of himself stumbled towards him. Several organs attached to the outside of its body, but that didn’t seem to slow it down. “Then let’s help each other out. This foreign Phil reached over shoulder, and swung a stomach towards Phil. Only because Phil had just then remember he should be running was he safe. The rock were far looser than usual, so Phil chuck one at the twisted portrait of himself. But that only made several shards that appeared to be from a literal dark mirror. As Phil ran passed a line painted on the ground. A wall of light appeared, and the pitch black shards of glass fell to the ground.

“Really dear, if you’re not even going to listen to yourself, I don’t know why you bother.” Phil stared at the woman before, and noted she was in one of her fancier black dresses. “It hasn’t been that long, has it?”

“No dad, tonight, mom?” Phil asked. “Would’ve figured he’d be on a rampage.”

“Oh, he is.” Phil’s mother stated. “But you haven’t lost your mind just yet, so I didn’t bring him along. Come along, would you?” She could tell Phil obey only to get out of here, but that didn’t matter much. “You’ve had your fun don’t you think? I mean it’s been so many years since you were serious about anything.”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything to be serious about.” Phil rebutted. “And I like her, but I can’t remember if I’ve had fun yet. I suppose that’s because I keep backing away.”

“You do as you should.” His mother replied. “Life isn’t about fun and games. It’s about hard choices and understanding that sometimes one makes some sacrifices.”
“That’s a nice idea, and all.” Sofia stated somewhat sarcastically standing on the other side of the painted line. “But you’re time has expired, so if we could move this along.”

“You see?” Phil’s mom stated.

“Time has expired.” the nameless voice stated.

“Her kind and the people who live like them are nothing, but selfish. They look out only for themselves, and-” A green hand grabbed her mouth.

A small green man floating in the air twitched. “You are using the time of others. Which. Is. Breaking. The. RULES.” With ease Phil’s mother was chucked into the sky. “Your time begins now.” The green man stated before floating off again.

“For the record.” Phil began. “I don’t think you’re only looking out for yourself.”

“Well, I am.” Sofia stated. “I like you. And I want on my side, because I’m hoping you’ll like me, in the same way.”
“So what I’m just supposed to be selfish too?” Phil respond.

“Yep.” Sofia answered. “We’ll all be a little selfish together, and only hang out with the people we really want to hang out with. And when a few people get selfish enough to hog each other, we see what happens.” Two portal appeared behind her. “Course you can always make the kind of sacrifices your mom did. I mean everyone seems to want to, so maybe it’s worthwhile”

“Worthwhile, huh?” Phil paused, and looked back to edge where everyone once stood. “Doesn’t seem like a lot of people agree.”

“Wonder who faults that is.” Sofia stated with a hint of smug. “You’re the only one who wants what you do, Phil. Someone’s gotta look out for that.” She stated moving out of the way giving Phil a clear view of the portals. Both seem to show a version of the future. The left one showed Sofia and him cuddled up together on a couch with a couple empty beers and a mess of clothes close by. The right showed him and Sophia happily living in the house. Phil could tell he really kind of hated the house, but what mattered to the older him was that Sophia like it
