You need more ... Black paint?” Nina asked.

“Yeah… I… use a lot on a few pieces.” Amber said. “I was told could cover—”

“Amber, it's not that I can’t cover the cost. It’s that you needed that black at all.” Nina replied.
“Oh”… Amber said. “I Guess I could scale it?’

“I’ll see what I can find.” Nina said, and walked off.

---
Collin knocked on the door and opened it “Amber?”

Collin?” Amber said back. “It’s your house, did you need some— oh the black paint! Perfect!"

That wasn’t… yeah here.” Collin said, and handed a confused Amber the paint she needed before walking away.

An hour or so later Amber looked at leaning the couch “You can look if you want?”

“I.. I what?” Collin sputtered and turned bright red.

“At the painting, you worn brush.” Amber giggled. “Aren’t you supposed to be watching or something?”

“I'm supposed to  be making sure you don’t cheat, which you haven’t been!” Collin said, and got up.
“But, I guess I can look if you need an opinion.”

“Sure, let's go with that, this way then." Amber said.

“It’s… wow, honestly” Collin replied, after seeing Amber work. “Never thought I would see a girl in prison look so lovely.”

“That’s what’s you see, hun?” Amber asked. “I suppose is kind what i’m going for”

What were you really going for then?” Collin asked.

“No, that’s… I see actually.” Amber replied. “So adjust that… dab that.. Oh, that black paint?”

“What.. oh! Yeah I'll get it one second” Collin said, and then left before coming back with it. “Sorry I meant to give it to you earlier. I just.. Left without thinking when I knocked.”

“What you wanna ask earlier by the way?” Amber asked.

“It’s stupid…” Collin said. “You’ll laugh at it anyways.”

“I promise I won’t laugh." Amber said. “What did you wanna say? Obviously, it meant a lot to you.”

“Did you maybe… I’d like to stop being your watcher, and start maybe being your partner, so could maybe go out for that dinner sometime?” Collin asked. And slugged his shoulder as Amber did her best not to laugh, and the bursted out.

“No, no .. Collin! I’m sorry” Amber said. “I loved to, and I mean that!.. Please!..”

Collin  came back in "You don't have to humor me you know?"

“I’m not!” Amber shouted. “I laughed, because it sounded so.. rehearsed city.. And to a country girl who already kind of liked you…” Amber said. “Honestly I would have asked you, but I figured you have higher standards…”

“You’re a lovely girl with a clearly creative mind!” Collin said. “Who knew I invited her to this contest! What higher standards?!”

“Rich boy, family runs this whole thing every year?” Amber replied. “Whole damn 3 story house?! Ring any bell. And… I’m just a country girl with a corner in the garage. So pretty sure you do better.”

“Well I'm pretty sure I couldn't,” Collin said. “So dinner tomorrow can I pick…” Both laughed. “Around 7?”

“7:30” Amber replied “I do my best paint at 7”
